Graphic editing
Graphic editing is used in both film and music videos, you focus on visual elements of the editing which is important. By using the same colours, shapes, patterns or costumes when cutting from one location to another causes the audience to be able to notice the concept or person are the same, there just a change in location. For example in the film brick they show a dead girl on the floor, then cut to the same girl putting a note in a locker. The audience only notice it's the same girl by the bracelet that is carefully framed in the middle of both shots....
Rhythmic editing
To keep a steady rhythm throughout a video, all shots should be a similar length. By shortening and lengthening shots you change the rhythm of the video it's self. Therefore by editing the rythem of the video you can create tension or reassurance to the audience. For example the trailers of horror film use the shortening of shots to create tension...
Spacial editing
Spacial editing is to do with the framing and locations of shots. The same location means the same time, same place and same person. However cross cutting can be used to show that something else is going on at the same time as the first shot. For example in this eminem video he is on the phone to his friend, showing what his friend is doing at the same time....
Temporal editing
This is to do with the time of the video or film. For example flashbacks can be used. If the music video has a narrative then the shots will usually be in chronological order so that the time isn't totally different every time
